Privacy Policy

How Adla handles your information

Adla Limited is a licensed New Zealand Financial Advice Provider. To give you KiwiSaver advice, we need to collect some of your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and your rights. We handle your information under the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

  • Contact details — your name, email, and phone number.
  • Identity and application details — your date of birth, home address, IRD number, and KiwiSaver member number, when you apply for a hardship withdrawal or become a client.
  • KiwiSaver details — your provider, fund, and balance.
  • Your financial situation — things like income, savings, debts, and what you need the money for. For hardship applications, this includes the reason you're applying.
  • Website data — cookies that make our forms work and measure our ads (see Cookies below).

You don't have to give us any of this. But without it we usually can't process your application or give you advice, and we'll need to pause until we have what's missing.

How we collect it

Directly from you — through the forms on our websites, by phone, or by email. Our online forms save your answers each time you complete a step, so we hold what you've entered even if you don't finish the form (see "How long we keep it" below). If you appoint us as your adviser, we also receive information about your KiwiSaver account from your provider.

Why we collect it

  • To give you KiwiSaver advice and prepare your Statement of Advice.
  • To act as your servicing adviser with your KiwiSaver provider.
  • To contact you about your application or enquiry — including following up if you start a form and don't finish it.
  • To meet our legal obligations as a licensed Financial Advice Provider, including record-keeping and anti-money-laundering rules.
  • To process your KiwiSaver hardship withdrawal application and prepare the forms your provider needs.

Your IRD number

Your KiwiSaver provider needs your IRD number to identify your account and process your withdrawal or adviser appointment. That's the only thing we use it for.

Who we share it with

  • Your KiwiSaver provider (and its supervisor), to process your withdrawal application or adviser appointment.
  • The companies that host our systems. They store information on our behalf and can't use it for their own purposes. Our systems are hosted on secure infrastructure in the United States.
  • A secure AI service (Anthropic, based in the United States) that helps draft parts of advice documents. We share only the financial details needed to write the advice — never your name, contact details, or date of birth — and the information isn't used to train the AI.
  • If a mortgage broker referred you to us: limited updates on your progress — never your financial details. We may pay that broker a referral fee based on your KiwiSaver balance. This doesn't change our advice and doesn't cost you anything.
  • Anyone we're legally required to share it with, such as a court or regulator.

We never sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone else for marketing.

How we protect it

Your information is sent over encrypted connections and stored behind access controls, and access to our admin systems requires multi-factor authentication. If a privacy breach ever put you at risk of serious harm, we would notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

How long we keep it

  • If you don't become a client: we delete your identity and application details (IRD number, date of birth, address, and any documents) within 90 days of your last activity — and your contact details too, unless you've opted in to hear from us.
  • If you've opted in to updates: we keep only your name and contact details, and delete them when you unsubscribe.
  • If you become a client: the law requires us to keep records of our advice for at least 7 years after our relationship ends. After that, we delete them.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted (other than records the law requires us to keep). Just email us — there's no charge. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.

Cookies

Our sites use cookies that make our forms work, and Google advertising cookies that measure how our ads perform. The advertising cookies don't tell us who you are. You can block cookies in your browser settings.
